L. Neil Smith "Federalists! Right here in Laporte?" I picked up his first novel on the strength of a good review in Reason in 1979. I've bought everything I could find of his, on sight, ever since. He's got an ax to grind. He does it well. Coincidentally, he also has an academic background in anthropology (see for example his novel Pallas). He has a bunch of essays, transcribed speeches and other writings on his web site. (2001-may-6 El Neil's essays and speeches have been published in book form as Lever Action. So far not available on Amazon.com ) Read -- "You Can't Win a Culture War if You Ain't Got Any Culture." is a good place to start. He also publishes the e-zine Libertarian Enterprise. Furthermore, libertarian municipal councilmen were elected in four (of 81) counties.
