Work History

February 2000 to present: Computer Dynamics, Freeport, IL. Network configuration and installation (Windows 2000 Server, Windows 2000 Small Business Server and Windows NT Server). Service and support PC operations for a variety of Computer Dynamics small business customers in the Freeport area and northwest Illinois.

December 2000 to February 2001: Spherion Technology, contracted to Conseco Insurance in Rockford, IL.  Assisted with a PC rollout.  Configured and installed Windows 98 client PCs and software in a mixed Novell/Windows NT, mixed ethernet/token ring environment.

August 2000 to November 2000: Manpower Professional, contracted to Advanced Technology Services. On site technician at the Caterpillar Agricultural Products plant in DeKalb, IL. Working closely with the local IS department, I serviced and configured a variety of PCs (clone, IBM, HP), laptops (Toshiba, HP and IBM), servers (HP and Compaq) and printers (primarily HP LaserJet) and troubleshot software (Windows NT, MS Office, IBM Personal Communications terminal emulation) in a Windows NT and Windows 2000 environment.

July 1997 to January 2000: Vanstar (became Inacom) Field Engineer

August 1992 to July 1997: technician for Lameyer's Computer Center, Freeport, IL.   Head technician from June 1993 to July 1997.

Skills and related experience

Experience with Windows 95/98, Windows NT, Windows 2000, OS/2 2.1, 3.0 and 4.0, and Red Hat, Caldera and Debian Linux, with MSDOS through version 6.22, DRDOS, MSDOS memory management, Desqview and Windows 3.x.

Experience with networking using SMB (Windows 95/98/NT/2000 and OS/2 Peer), TCP/IP (Linux), and with Lantastic LAN (for DOS, Windows and OS/2).  Experience with network cabling (thin coax and cat 5 twisted pair).

Experience with ISA, VESA, PCI, Microchannel and EISA bus systems.

Experience with installing and configuring CD-ROM drives, SyQuest and Zip drives, QIC, DAT and DLT tape drives, SCSI host adapters, network interface cards, modems, PCMCIA cards and card readers, scanners, sound cards, video frame grabbers, magneto-optical drives, floptical drives and Bernoulli Boxes.

Experience configuring and repairing dot matrix, ink jet and laser printers.

Experience with terminals, terminal emulation software (Reflection, Attachmate Extra, IBM Personal Communications) and serial connection to a UNIX host.
