All about our Bullmastiff family

It all started in 1991 when our family pet dog had to be euthanized. We decided we wanted to replace him with a purebred dog with a predictable temperament. We wanted a large dog that would command the respect of outsiders without the bad reputation of the so called "guard dog" breeds. We wanted a house dog that could safely interact with all family members.

We chose the Bullmastiff, but didn't know where to get one. We found one in a local pet store soon after trying unsuccesfully to contact a local breeder. We couldn't wait! We had to have this puppy.

It didn't take long to learn why we should have waited to talk to the breeder.  Fred did convince us that we had chosen the right breed.

Fred's puppy kindergarten and obedience classes brought us into contact with other Bullmastiffs and the breeder that we hadn't contacted. We were about to be exposed to dog shows.

We got to know that breeder quite well and learned a great deal about the breed and showing. We met their dog Fred and bitch Helen and decided to get a puppy from their first litter. We picked Maggie out of five bitches available in that litter.
