What Is JR's Bait Shop?

It's a mythical small business run by one, maybe two, maybe three or so local, ahh, entrepreneurs, or not. The business is mentioned on-air usually in conjunction with an interview dealing with how a small business might help a worthy cause with a small contribution, for instance, "How can us guys at JR's Bait Shop make a donation?"

Alternately, a Chamber of Commerce member might be on the air pitching the benfits of joining the Chamber and paying dues. A small business, such as JR's Bait Shop, might wonder what the benefits of joining might be compared to the expenses. Much of the retail tax revenues in our communities are generated by small businesses.

Once in a while our various economic development directors in the area take to the airwaves to explain how offering incentives and tax abatements to large firms willing to build in the area will benefit our communities. The staff and managment of JR's Bait Shop, (one in the same frankly) would like to know how this will impact us as small businesses. Walmart (for instance) sells fishing tackle. You get the drift.

Our parent company, JR and Friends, also imaginary, offered to buy CGH Medical Center for 35-million dollars on the air. We've not heard back from anybody on this quite yet. It is conceivable, however, that such a thing might happen with a better organized buyer. What might the ramifications of that be?

On-air references to JR's Bait Shop/JR and Friends are intended as "thought-starters" and "what ifs." There is no JR's Bait Shop in this area. There is one in Florida, though. (We stole its sign above, right.) Since you're still reading this far, you might as well give them a click.
