JR On WSDR--This Week

A Thank-You--JR

More than a year ago, I was diagnosed with cancers--a small spot on the lung, a second in the brain. Treatment has been (apparently) effective, and it has also been expensive. It's left me with a few side effects that I've been able to work around, but it's also left me with an appreciation of how many wonderful people there are in this community.

The "Friends Of JR" Committee put together numerous fundraising efforts which raised monies for which I am truly grateful. Wendy and Rod Johnson (of SBM) donated a $6,000 flat screen TV that, I'm sure, would have looked nice in their home. Rhonda Jones (SBM) devoted countless hours to fund-raising efforts. Kim Gaffey (of Heartland Home Nursing) provided medical and spiritual guidance and much more of her time than she really had free.

Jim Mertes, Doug Wiersema, Mike and Brian at the Depot, John Miller, Mary Carlson and others who helped in any way, I thank you!

I also especially want to thank Joe and Mary Martin for all of their encouragement, assistance, and transportation.

There are more, some of whose names I know, and some of whom I don't. I am deeply grateful to all of you who donated time, gave money, offered encouragement, or simply looked the other way. May 2008 repay you all in ways I can't.

Bless you all!

JR
