 CO Alarms

If you don't have one get one preferably one that will display the CO levels and has memory recall of the highest level. Low level alarms are preferred as they provide low level detection of CO below the current UL standards. Please read the manufacturers installation instructions.

If you feel that you should not worry about low level carbon monoxide please visit the Carbon Monoxide Headquarters web site.

GRI CO Alarm Performance

Have your appliances serviced annually by a certified CO/Combustion Analysist.

Having a CO Alarm does not replace the need for regular servicing of gas or oil appliances such as boilers, furnaces, water heaters, clothes dryers, gas logs, vented or unvented heaters.
Have your gas appliances tested for CO production in the undiluted flue gases by a trained professional. Flames cannot be properly adjusted by eye. Hint---- Carbon Monoxide burns blue. Only a test meter designed for the high temperatures in flue gases can be used to determine if the burner has low CO productions. You cannot do this yourself using a household CO alarm.
