...where Ralphie finally falls asleep with his coveted Red Ryder BB gun clutched in his arms, that goofy smile on his face - and all is right in the world.
(Well actually, I think all was right in the world - just a bit before - before the unthinkable happened, and the Bumpus hounds made off with the Christmas turkey... but it's implied, finally, at the end!)
Of course, all wasn't right in the world, really. It was all pretty much the same as it had been the day before. Scut Farkus and his toady Grover Dill were still lurking behind those junked cars (what was with all those cars anyway?), Miss Shields was still plotting to assign more THEMES, the Old Man's Oldsmobile was still going to freeze up in the middle of the summer - on the equator.
Really, the only thing that had changed was that Ralphie had found his heart's desire.
And then all the other stuff just didn't seem to matter so much.
All of which comes to mind for a reason - really! And I'll get to it.... sometime. Perhaps even in this lifetime. I am hoping maybe even tomorrow. But given my inability to get anything done these days, I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you. I would check back here in a day or two though!
You will notice that this entry is dated September 8th, and here it is the 15th, and I am just now getting it posted. That's how things have been going for me. Grandbabies stop by (generally brought by their parents), my thyroid pups out on me and I run out of gas by mid-afternoon, I get caught up with messing with photos - it's always something! Well, the truth is I can fritter away the time with the best of them.
I am a Master.
But I am trying to be more productive, really!
