Canon BJC-600 Waste Ink Tank Error
Don't Sweat It - Reset It
|
When you run the head-cleaning process on an ink jet printer, a tiny bit of ink is collected by a felt pad beneath the cartridge. If too much ink accumulates, it may actually leak down inside the printer and make a spot on your table. Canon, in their infinite wisdom, has provided a counter to generate an error to remind you to take your printer in for professional service periodically, so that your friendly repairman can make his boat payments on time. Luckily, the technicians in the United Kingdom have made this secret procedure and a bunch of other handy information available on the internet, for which all of us should be very grateful. Other models of printers have different reset procedures, so if yours is not a Model 600 see the link to the UK experts below.
To reset the counter that originates the error message, do this:
- Pull the plug - or turn off the power strip your printer is plugged into.
- Simultaneously hold buttons 1-3-4 (POWER - FF - etc)
- Plug in the cord - or turn on the power strip.
- Listen to the strange beep.
- Release the three buttons.
- Drink some of your favorite beveridge to celebrate.
- Make a copy of this list and put it in your owner's manual.
